Smith Finishes 14th at NCAA Indoor Championships

Blake Smith capped off a terrific Indoor Track & Field season with a 14th-place finish in the long jump Friday.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Junior track & field student-athlete Blake Smith has placed 14^th in the long jump at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships Friday. Smith recorded a 7.15 meter (23'5.5") jump.

Jarrion Lawson from Arkansas won the event with a jump of 27'6.3" Corey Crawford of Rutgers (26'3.4") and Roelf Pienaar (25'7") took second and third, respectively.

Lederrick Ward from fellow Ohio Valley Conference institution SIUE placed sixth in the long jump with a jump of 25'5.1"

Smith wraps up a terrific indoor season with his NCAA performance. Smith's long jump of 25'4.5" ranked 11^th in the nation prior to the NCAA Championship. Smith set the mark at the OVC Indoor Championships, where he won the event.

The junior will look to build on a terrific indoor season as the 2014 Outdoor Track & Field season begins March 20-22 at the Alabama Relays in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
