CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri (5-5) plays host to Western Illinois (0-8) in its home-opener Tuesday. Start time is 2 p.m., CT, at the Redhawks Tennis Complex.
Southeast recently snapped a three-match losing streak with its first shutout of the season, a 7-0 victory at Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Mar. 9). The Redhawks five victories this season surpassed their win total from a year ago.
Valeriia Kashina and
Melissa Martin each posted 2-0 singles records for the Redhawks last week. Martin enters Tuesday's contest with a three-match winning streak in singles action. She is tied for second on the team with five wins, including four at the No. 6 position.
Meanwhile, WIU is winless after dropping their first eight matches. The Leathernecks have not scored a point this year, losing all of their matches by scores of 7-0.
Southeast and WIU meet for the fifth time in 2014. The all-time series is presently even at 2-2.
