ResultsHARDIN, Ky. – For the first time since the 2007 season, the Southeast Missouri tennis team has won three matches in a row.
The Redhawks won 5-2 over Western Kentucky Sunday afternoon at Kenlake Resort in Hardin, Ky.
Southeast improves to 4-2 on the season while the Lady Toppers fall to 1-1.
Valeriia Nagovitcina scored a 6-4, 6-0 win for the Redhawks at No. 2 singles over Maddie Phillips. It was her third-straight win in singles play.
"Val Nagovitcina was a steady win for us all weekend," Southeast head coach
Leah Hottois said. "Heather (Robinson) showed a lot of heart while Melissa (Martin) and Kate (Ekaterina Donetskova) came up with strong wins today.
"We had a great team effort all weekend."
The Redhawks also picked up wins in the No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 singles while taking victories in No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
Ekaterina Donetskova beat Emily Przystawski 6-2, 6-4, while
Heather Robinson beat Carolina Barboza 4-6, 6-2 (4).
Melissa Martin picked up the 6-2, 6-2 win over Alex Crofforel.
In double action, the duo of Donetskova and
Valeriia Kashina defeated Monta Reinfelde and Phillips 6-3. Nagovitcina and
Annisa Warasanti beat Przystawski and Crofforel 6-1.
The Redhawks take their three-match win streak to O'Fallon, Ill., on Feb. 22 where they will face Saint Louis.
