Photo GalleryCAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri (11-6, 8-2) was upset 1-0 by fifth-seeded Jacksonville State (11-9-1, 6-4) in the semifinals of the Ohio Valley Conference Soccer Championship on Friday evening. Forward Kelsey Bright scored her 11
th goal of the season in the 66
th minute to provide the difference.
The loss snapped a six-game winning streak for Southeast dating back to Oct. 12, the program's longest since 2002.

"Our team has just flown along this year because our leadership has been so good, and that's always a credit to the seniors," head coach
Heather Nelson said. "To add to that, they're the class that won the 2011 championship, so you always want them to go out on a high note, especially when they started that way. On behalf of our staff, I want to thank our seniors for all their contributions to our program."

The match was a back-and-forth defensive battle most of the night. Southeast outshot Jax State 12-11 and both teams recorded five shots on goal. Senior forward
Kasey Crowden led the Redhawks with a game-best and career-high six shots, including three shots on goal. Defender
Valeria Jaramillo recorded two shots on headers late in the game that nearly found the net.

Bright's game-winner was set up by a pass from Katt Dowd. The shot got past Southeast goalkeeper
Kindra Lierz at the far post. Bright tied Crowden for a game-high with three shots on goal. JSU midfielder Jackie Rush registered five shots on the evening.

Lierz finished with four saves on the evening while JSU goalkeeper Caroline Robinson made five saves and withstood numerous attacking chances by the Redhawks in the closing minutes.

Southeast was called for 13 fouls in the contest while Jacksonville State drew four foul calls. The Redhawks had four corner kicks in the match, twice as many as JSU.
