Winning StreakSoutheast carries a three-game winning streak into Saturday's Ohio Valley Conference matchup against Murray State. Two of the Redhawks victories in that stretch were against ranked opponents. Southeast is on a three-game winning streak and off to a 2-0 start in OVC play for the first time since 2010.
Down to FourThe Redhawks are one of four teams remaining with an undefeated record in Ohio Valley Conference play. Eastern Kentucky (2-0), Jacksonville State (2-0) and Eastern Illinois (1-0) are the others. EKU, JSU and Southeast are all on winning streaks consisting of at least three games. The Colonels are currently the only winless team in the league with an overall 5-0 mark.
Part TwoSoutheast begins the second half of its season at Murray State this weekend. After Saturday's game, the Redhawks return home to host Eastern Illinois (Oct. 18). The remainder of Southeast's schedule then includes trips to Eastern Kentucky (Oct. 25) and Tennessee Tech (Nov. 8), and home games vs. Austin Peay (Nov. 15) and Jacksonville State (Nov. 22).
Series HistoryThe Redhawks and Racers meet for the 49th time in 2014. Southeast has faced Murray State more than any other Ohio Valley Conference opponent. The Racers lead the series, 38-9-1. Southeast beat the Racers, 37-34, in triple overtime last season at Houck Stadium.
Alex Knight kicked the game-winning 30-yard field goal. The Redhawks are 3-20 all-time against MSU in Murray, Ky. In fact, the last time Southeast beat the Racers on their home field was on Sept. 11, 2010 (30-17).

The Redhawks rode a three-game winning streak and victories over two ranked opponents en route to a No. 23 ranking. Close CallEach of the last three matchups between Ohio Valley Conference rivals Southeast and Murray State have been decided by no more than seven points. The Racers won two of those contests by scores of 35-34 in 2011 and 42-35 in 2012. The Redhawks beat MSU, 37-34, in three overtimes a year ago.
McFerren Notches First 100-Yard GameFifth-year senior running back
Lennies McFerren ran for a career-high 115 yards and one touchdown on 21 carries against Tennessee State (Oct. 4). McFerren averaged 5.5 yards per carry en route to his first career 100-yard rushing performance. He scored on a 7-yard run to give the Redhawks a 28-14 lead with 4:41 left in the fourth quarter. McFerren, Southeast's leading rusher this season, ranks fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference with 78.7 yards per game.
Rise of McFerrenLennies McFerren averaged 94.8 yards per game and 4.8 yards per carry since taking over the starting role at tailback. McFerren ran the ball 20 or more times in each of his last three starts.
Another Huge WinFor the second time in three weeks, Southeast toppled a Top-25 opponent. No. 20 Tennessee State was the latest victim of a 28-21 loss on Oct. 4. The Redhawks piled up 360 yards of total offense (226 rushing) and did not allow a sack. Southeast's 28 points were the most hung on TSU by any opponent this season. The Tigers lead the nation in sacks and entered the game allowing just 78 rushing yards per contest. Southeast, which also took down then-No. 3 Southeastern Louisiana (Sept. 20), beat two ranked opponents in a season for the first time in school history.
McCrum MadnessThere is a kicker craze swirling in the Southeast football program and it revolves around redshirt-sophomore
Ryan McCrum. McCrum recently made a career-long 55-yard field goal to give the Redhawks a 3-0 edge early in their game against Tennessee State (Oct. 4). He scored eight points on 2-of-2 field goals and 2-of-2 PATs vs. the Tigers. McCrum made two field goals over 50 yards this season, and as a result, owns both of the Ohio Valley Conference's longest field goals (54, 55) this year. Additionally, he has not missed a field goal (7-of-7) or extra point (22-of-22) this season and leads the league in PAT kicking percentage. McCrum is the Redhawks leading scorer with 43 points in six games.
PAT StreakRyan McCrum has made 26-consecutive PATs dating back to last season. McCrum last missed a PAT with 11:33 left in the first quarter at Jacksonville State on Nov. 23, 2013. He is tied for first in the Ohio Valley Conference with 22 extra points in 2014. McCrum made 30-of-33 PATs in his career.
In the Red ZoneSoutheast boasts the Ohio Valley Conference's top offense inside the red zone this season. The Redhawks are 20-of-24 for 83.3 percent inside their opponents 20-yardline. Southeast scored a league-best 17 touchdowns (13 rush, 4 pass) in the red zone. Defensively, the Redhawks are second, allowing their opponents to score 46.2 percent (6-of-13) of the time when they get in the red zone.

Four WinsSoutheast picked up its fourth win this season when it beat Tennessee State, 28-21, on Oct. 4. The Redhawks, who are under the direction of first-year head coach
Tom Matukewicz, have already surpassed their win total from each of the previous three seasons. Southeast won just three games in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
Putting Up the PointsThe Redhawks rank second in the Ohio Valley Conference and 18th in the nation in scoring offense with 35.2 points per game. Southeast's current scoring average is its highest in 12 years. The last time the Redhawks finished a season with a scoring average over 30 points per game was 2002 (34.7).
Hamm-Bey Named OVC Defensive Player of the WeekSenior cornerback
Tim Hamm-Bey was named the Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 5. A native of St. Louis, Mo., Hamm-Bey is Southeast's first OVC Defensive Player of the Week since linebacker Blake Peiffer earned the honor on Nov. 13, 2011. Hamm-Bey registered six tackles, blocked a field goal and had five pass breakups in the Redhawks 28-21 win over No. 20 Tennessee State. He led a disruptive secondary that accounted for a season-high 12 pass breakups in the game. Hamm-Bey also got a hand on Lane Clark's field goal attempt that resulted in a touchback in the first quarter. It was the fourth blocked kick of Hamm-Bey's career. Hamm-Bey currently ranks third in the nation in blocked kicks (2) and ninth in passes defended (10, 1.7 per game average) this year. Hamm-Bey joins Jacksonville State's Miles Jones (Co-Offensive), Murray State's KD Humphries (Co-Offensive) and Tennessee Tech's John Arnold (Specialist) and Trey Thompson (Newcomer) as this week's honorees. Southeast has won one of the four OVC weekly awards in four-straight weeks. Hamm-Bey was also named Co-Defensive National Player of the Week by the Sports Network.
About Murray StateMurray State enters Saturday's game on a four-game losing streak. The recently lost in overtime at Tennessee Tech on Oct. 4. MSU has played two Football Bowl Subdivision opponents, including No. 25 Louisville and Western Michigan. The Racers are eighth in the Ohio Valley Conference in scoring defense, allowing 43.8 points per game. MSU is last in the OVC in total defense, giving up over 500 (501.6) yards per contest. The Racers are last in the league against the run (274.2 ypg), as well. Quarterback KD Humphries leads the OVC with 209.2 passing yards per game and Jeremy Harness tops the league with 8.2 receptions per contest. Pokey Harris also leads the OVC in all-purpose yardage (127 ypg) and linebacker Jonathan Jackson is averaging a conference-best 11.6 tackles per game.
