RICHMOND, Ky. – Kyle Snyder threw for 245 yards and a touchdown, and rushed for 116 yards and another two scores in Southeast Missouri's 33-21 loss to No. 18 Eastern Kentucky Saturday at Roy Kidd Stadium.

Southeast dropped to 4-5 overall and 2-3 in the Ohio Valley Conference following its third-straight loss. EKU improved to 7-1 and 4-1 in league play.

"We lost to a good football team today," said Southeast head coach Tom Matukewicz. "I thought we did what we needed to do to make it a fourth quarter game."

Snyder threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Ron Coleman, pulling the Redhawks to within five (26-21) early in the fourth quarter. He also found the end zone on runs of three and four yards, respectively.

EKU struck first on a big special teams play when Jeff Glover blocked Alex Knight's punt at the 22-yardline. Glover scooped up the ball and ran to the end zone to give the Colonels a 7-0 lead with 7:18 left in the first quarter. It was the first punt Southeast had blocked in nine games this season.

Southeast quickly answered with a swift 9-play, 75-yard drive that resulted in Snyder's first rushing touchdown to tie the game at 7-7 at the 2:55 mark.

Another big play, this time a 49-yard pass from Jared McClain to Devin Borders, set up the Colonels next score.

Borders catch gave EKU a 1st-and-Goal at the Southeast-7. Three plays later, Dy'Shawn Mobley crossed the goal line on 4th-and-1 to extend EKU's lead to 14-7 with 32 seconds remaining.

After stopping Southeast on fourth down, EKU took possession at the Redhawks 49-yardline and marched 49 yards in six plays to tack on six more points.

Two defensive penalties by the Redhawks figured into the Colonels getting to the Redhawks 9-yardline before Mobley scored on a 9-yard run. Andrew Lloyd missed the PAT, leaving EKU with a 20-7 advantage with 10:39 left to play in the second quarter.

Southeast answered right back with another nice drive, covering 73 yards in 12 plays. Snyder completed an 11-yard pass to Adrian Davis before picking up a first down on a 15-yard carry. Snyder then scored on a 4-yard run to narrow the Colonels lead to 20-14 with six minutes.

The first half ended on a wild play when McClain's hail mary pass was intercepted by DeMichael Jackson. Jackson ran 27 yards and pitched the ball to Travis Sanders. Sanders picked up 14 yards before pitching the ball to David Coley. Coley ran another 22 yards down the far sideline before he was tackled at the EKU-33.

EKU and Southeast came up empty on their first possessions of the second half. Lloyd missed a 37-yard field goal and Snyder was intercepted in the end zone by Kiante Northington on a 3rd-and-3 at the Colonels 9-yardline. The turnover was Southeast's fourth in the red zone this year.

EKU capitalized on the turnover, going 80 yards in 11 plays. McClain's 27-yard pass to Borders widened the Colonels lead to double-digits (26-14) with 3:05 in the third quarter.

Southeast, which went scoreless in the third quarter, scored again on Snyder's pass to Coleman, cutting the lead to 26-21 with the 10:31 remaining.

Mobley then scored on a 13-yard run to secure EKU's 33-21 victory.

Snyder completed 23-of-34 passes and threw two interceptions. He averaged 6.1 yards per carry on 19 rushing attempts. Snyder is the first Southeast quarterback to rush for over 100 yards in a game since Scott Lathrop had 119 at Murray State on Nov. 17, 2012.

Jackson followed with 99 yards on 22 carries, while Peter Lloyd caught nine passes for 104 yards, his second 100-yard receiving game this season. In addition, Lloyd finished with 207 all-purpose yards.

Defensively, Terrence Hill and Hunter Bledsoe paved the way with 12 and 11 tackles. Sanders added a game and career-high three sacks, and the 63-yard interception return to end the first half tied for fifth-longest in school history. Sanders is the first Redhawks player to get three sacks in a game since 2004 (Matt Bohnert vs. UT Martin).

Mobley rushed for 111 yards and three touchdowns to lead EKU. McClain completed 15-of-18 passes for 203 yards and a touchdown, and Borders made four catches for 106 yards and a TD, as well.

Southeast outgained EKU, 484-364, with 239 on the ground. The Redhawks also had six penalties for 55 yards and the Colonels were penalized just once for five yards.

The Redhawks have their bye week on Nov. 1 before returning to action in the OVC Game of the Week at Tennessee Tech on Nov. 8.
