Photo GalleryCAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri (8-5-0, 5-2-0) scored twice within a six-minute span late in the first half and held on for a 2-1 victory over Morehead State (8-5-5, 3-3-2) on Sunday afternoon.

"It's awesome to get a win over an excellent opponent, one of our traditional rivals in the OVC," head coach
Heather Nelson said. "To play for our seniors meant everything. I know every player that stepped out there and even the players that were on the bench were all pulling to make sure it was everything our seniors would want."

Breana Beine opened up the scoring in the 32
nd minute when she scored at the far post for her team-leading seventh goal of the season. Fellow senior MF

Jennifer Antonacci pushed the ball ahead to assist on the score.

Less than six minutes later, sophomore MF
Kaitlin Kuznacic took a pass from Beine and found the net for her first career goal. It was Beine's second assist of the season and her team-best 16
th point.

Morehead State cut the lead in half when Kimberly Golden scored on a rebound off a save by Southeast freshman GK
Kindra Lierz in the 43
rd minute.

From there, the Redhawks defense held strong against an aggressive Eagles attack. Morehead State finished with 21 shots on the afternoon, including 11 shots on goal. Southeast recorded eight shots and four shots on goal.

Lierz set a career-high with 10 saves on the afternoon. She stopped five scoring chances in each half.

"I thought Kindra was very consistent throughout the game," Nelson said. "I always felt confident that she would be a difference-maker. She definitely had a good day."

Morehead State played two goalkeepers in the contest. Kaitlynn Murphy made one save in relief of Elizabeth Floyd, who surrendered the two goals. Angela Black posted game-highs of five shots and three shots on goal after entering as a reserve.

"I think all of them gave us everything that they could today," Nelson said. "I couldn't be more proud of them and I'm just privileged to coach such a great group of girls."

Southeast will play the final three games of the regular season on the road. They will travel to Tennessee Tech on Friday, Oct. 24 for a 3 p.m. start and to Jacksonville State on Sunday, Oct. 26 for a 1 p.m. match. The Redhawks conclude the regular season at SIU Edwardsville on Friday, Oct. 31 at 7 p.m.
