Life on the Road
Southeast plays its 13th game outside of Cape Girardeau at Tennessee Tech Saturday. The Redhawks have lost five-straight on the road and own a 5-7 record away from home this season. Southeast's last road win was at Southeastern Louisiana on Dec. 7.
Series History
Tennessee Tech holds a 28-13 in its all-time series against Southeast. The Golden Eagles have won 18 of the last 21 meetings between these teams. The Redhawks have gone 1-11 in their last 12 games against TTU in Cookeville.
Nutt Goes Over 100 Assists
Lucas Nutt dished out a game-high seven assists, and as a result, went over 100 this season. Nutt, who now has a team-high 103 in 18 games this year, accumulated 100 or more assists in a season for the third time in his career. He had 112 assists in 2010-11 and 178 in 2012-13 prior to this year.
Record Watch
Lucas Nutt has been Southeast's assists leader in 16 of 18 games this season. Nutt is coming up on the Redhawks all-time career assists mark. He presently has 522 and needs 20 more to break the record, currently held by Dwayne Rutherford (541 from 1986-90).
20-Point Man
Jarekious Bradley scored 22 or more points in seven-straight starts. Bradley leads the Ohio Valley Conference with fifteen 20-point performances this season. He recently dropped in 28, including 11 in the first three minutes of the game at Morehead State (Jan. 16).  Bradley's scoring average has not been below 20 points per game since Dec. 14.
View From the Top
Only one-tenth of a point separates Tennessee State's Patrick Miller (22.2 ppg) and Southeast's
Jarekious Bradley (22.1 ppg) at the top of the Ohio Valley Conference scoring list this season. Miller (13) and Bradley (15) have accounted for a total of twenty-eight 20-point games this year. Miller has also scored 30 or more points on three occasions, while Bradley did it once.
Tough Task
The early portion of Southeast's Ohio Valley Conference schedule has been anything but easy. The Redhawks already played OVC East Division leader and defending conference champion Belmont (Jan. 9), the top two teams in the West Division in Murray State (Jan. 2) and Austin Peay (Jan. 4), and Morehead State (Jan. 16) who stands third in the OVC East. That tough stretch continues when Southeast squares off against Tennessee Tech Saturday. TTU enters that matchup at second in the OVC East Division standings. The Redhawks, who are 1-4 in conference play, beat Tennessee State (Jan. 11) for their only league win of the season. The 1-4 start is Southeast's slowest in OVC play since 2008-09 (0-5).
Last Time Out
Southeast shot a season-low 52.4 percent (11-of-21) at the free throw line and that was the difference in its recent 80-67 loss at Morehead State Thursday. The Redhawks jumped out to an 11-0 lead in the first three minutes of the game, but shot just 25.9 percent (7-of-27) from the field in the first half.
Jarekious Bradley led all scorers with 28 points, while
Tyler Stone added 15 points and seven rebounds off the bench.
Offense vs. Defense
The Redhawks will put the Ohio Valley Conference's top scoring offense up against the league's second-best scoring defense Saturday. Tennessee Tech is limiting opponents to just 69.2 points per game. Eastern Kentucky (69.1) poses the league's best scoring defense, allowing only one-tenth of a point less than the Golden Eagles. Southeast is averaging 83 points per game this year.
More From the West
Southeast is the fourth Ohio Valley Conference West Division team that Tennessee Tech takes on this season. The Golden Eagles scored all three of their conference victories against such teams. TTU beat Tennessee State (Jan. 2), Eastern Illinois (Jan. 9) and SIU Edwardsville (Jan. 11). Its only league loss came at the hands of Belmont (Jan. 4). The Golden Eagles are 7-1 at home this season as one of four conference teams with just one homecourt loss.
East Division Stretch
The Redhawks close out a four-game run against Ohio Valley Conference East Division teams when they play at Tennessee Tech Saturday. Southeast is 1-2 against the OVC East after beating Tennessee State (Jan. 11) and losing to Belmont (Jan. 9) and Morehead State (Jan. 16). After Saturday's matchup, the Redhawks return to Cape Girardeau for a three-game homestand, beginning Thursday vs. SIU Edwardsville.
Last Nine Games
Since its 7-2 start this season, Southeast has dropped seven of its last nine games. The Redhawks are 1-4 in January with four contests remaining this month.
