Setting the Table
The Southeast Missouri baseball team heads to Jackson, Tenn. to take part in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament at the Ballpark at Jackson. The Redhawks will be the sixth seed in the tournament and will open play on Wednesday night against Belmont at 7:00 p.m.

Redhawks in the OVC Tournament
The Redhawks qualified for their OVC Record 19th consecutive OVC Tournament and the first under head coach Steve Bieser. Sophomore Will Spitzfaden will get the starter in the opener for the second straight season. Last year he helped the Redhawks win the Tournament opener 4-1 over Jacksonville State.

OVC Tournament History
Southeast Missouri is 30-35 all-time in the OVC Tournament. The Redhawks have gone 2-2 the past two season. Last year the Redhawks won their first two contests of the tournament.

Redhawks Against the Field
Southeast Missouri is 5-10 against teams in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament this season. The Redhawks won series against EKU and Austin Peay. The Redhawks took one game from Belmont and OVC Regular Season Champion swept the Redhawks at Capaha Field. Jacksonville State also swept the Redhawks at home this season.

Another First
The Redhawks will face Belmont in the first round of the tournament. The Redhawks and Bruins also met in Belmont's first game as a member of the Ohio Valley Conference a game in which the Redhawks downed the Bruins 1-0. Sophomore Will Spitzfaden out dueled OVC Preseason Pitcher of the Year Chase Brookshire. Branden Boggetto drove in what proved to be the game winning run with a double. Belmont took the series wrapping up a pair of wins on Saturday and Sunday.

Capital One Academic All-District
Southeast Missouri baseball players Jason Blum, Derek Gibson and Dalton Hewitt were named Capital One Academic All-District ® Thursday afternoon by the College Sports Information Directors of America. The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
