CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri (2-7, 0-5) will begin a stretch of four matches six days when it hosts UT Martin (2-10, 1-1) Tuesday. The match is scheduled for 2 p.m., CT, at the Redhawks Tennis Complex.
Southeast, which is looking to snap a five-match losing streak, is led by
Jessica Courtnell's five singles victories in dual play this season. Courtnell is 5-4 between the No. 3 (1-0) and No. 4 (4-4) spots.
Elizabeth Nyenwe (4-4),
Nikole Novikova (4-5) and
Heather Robinson (4-5) follow with four singles victories apiece.
In doubles action, Courtnell and
Melissa Martin are 4-3 overall and 2-1 in the Ohio Valley Conference. They are 3-2 at No. 3 and 1-1 at No. 2.
UTM was picked second behind Eastern Kentucky in this year's OVC Preseason Poll. The Skyhawks have played a tough schedule, losing to two ranked teams (#1 Auburn Montgomery; #10 West Florida). UTM is 1-10 on the road and has dropped five of its last six matchups.
After Tuesday, Southeast hits the road to face Brescia College (Apr. 5), Eastern Kentucky (Apr. 6) and Morehead State (Apr. 7).
