Redhawks Hit the Road for Final Stretch
Southeast Missouri (2-8, 1-5) hits the road for its last two games of the season. The Redhawks first visit Austin Peay (0-10, 0-6) Saturday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m., CT, at Governors Stadium.
Series History
Southeast owns an 11-6 advantage in its all-time series against Austin Peay. The Redhawks have gone 10-2 in their last 12 meetings with the Governors. Southeast has also won seven-straight games in Clarksville and has not lost there since Sept. 28, 1991 (24-21). The Redhawks have won the last three matchups between these teams, as well, winning, 48-27, at Governors Stadium a year ago.
Southeast Falls on Senior Day
The Redhawks missed out on their first two-game winning streak since the 2010 season when they lost to Tennessee Tech, 41-16, in their final home game of the season on Nov. 9. It was Southeast's largest loss at Houck Stadium this year. The Redhawks trailed, 28-3, at halftime and gave up 21 points in the second quarter against the Golden Eagles. TTU had lost five-straight games and did not have a win in the Ohio Valley Conference prior to that contest.
Snyder Excels in Fourth Quarter
Quarterback
Kyle Snyder came off the bench to throw three fourth-quarter touchdowns in his last two games. Snyder was the difference-maker in Southeast's 37-35 win over Urbana (Nov. 2). A native of Barberton, Ohio, Snyder threw two fourth-quarter touchdown passes to lead the Redhawks to their second victory of the season. He scrambled out of the pocket to throw a 42-yard touchdown pass to
Peter Lloyd, completing a 9-play, 80-yard drive to put Southeast ahead, 31-28, with 9:20 left in the game. Then, after Urbana responded with a touchdown of its own to regain a 35-31 advantage, Snyder hooked up with
Paul McRoberts on a 23-yard scoring strike with 37 seconds remaining. Snyder completed 7-of-15 passes for 109 yards and two TDs, and rushed for 34 yards on six carries. A week later, he completed 5-of-10 passes for 55 yards and rushed for 30 yards and five carries against Tennessee Tech (Nov. 9). Snyder also threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to McRoberts with 2:06 left to play in the fourth quarter. He did not play in three-straight games prior to Nov. 2.
Another 100-Yard Game for Jackson
RB
DeMichael Jackson ran for over 100 yards in his second-straight game and third time in four starts against Tennessee Tech (Nov. 9). Jackson gained 104 yards on 17 carries, averaging 6.1 yards per rush. He also ran for 112 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries vs. Urbana (Nov. 2), and a career-high 126 yards and a touchdown on 14 attempts at Eastern Illinois (Oct. 19). Jackson leads the Redhawks with 654 yards and two touchdows on 135 carries through 10 games this year. Â
Mr. Playmaker
Sophomore
Paul McRoberts scored both the game-tying and go-ahead touchdowns in Southeast's win over Urbana University (Nov. 2). McRoberts caught a 25-yard touchown pass from
Scott Lathrop to tie the game at 21-21 with nine seconds left in the second quarter. He then hauled in a 23-yard pass from
Kyle Snyder in the back left corner of the end zone to give Southeast a 37-35 edge with 37 seconds remaining. A week later, he had Southeast's only touchdown reception on a 17-yard pass from
Kyle Snyder late in the fourth quarter against Tennessee Tech (Nov. 9). McRoberts leads the Redhawks with 43 receptions for 639 yards and nine touchdowns through 10 starts this season. He has scored a TD in five-straight games.
Lathrop Approaching 1,000 Passing Yards
Quarterback
Scott Lathrop needs 58 more passing yards to reach 1,000 this season. Lathrop completed 88-of-156 passes (56.4 percent) for 942 yards and 11 touchdowns. He ranks seventh in the Ohio Valley Conference in passing average (94.2 ypg) and sixth in pass efficiency (121.4 rating). Five OVC quarterbacks have currently passed for 1,000 or more yards this season, including Eastern Illinois' Jimmy Garoppolo (3,843), Murray State's Maikhail Miler (1,754), Eastern Kentucky's Jared McClain (1,387), UT Martin's Jarod Neal (1,361) and Tennessee State's Ronald Butler (1,283).
Hamm-Bey Notches Season-High
CB
Tim Hamm-Bey notched a game and season-high 10 tackles against Tennessee Tech (Nov. 9). Hamm-Bey recorded nine solo stops for his first double-digit tackle game since getting 10 tackles vs. Tennessee State on Oct. 13, 2012.
