CARBONDALE, Ill. – Southeast Missouri sophomore jumper Reggie Miller broke the school indoor high jump record at the SIU Saluki Open on Saturday afternoon in Carbondale as the Redhawks returned to action for the first time since December 7.
“It was good to get back to work this week,” said head coach Eric Crumpecker. “It has been a great start to the season.”
Miller, a native of Kansas City set the school indoor high jump record with a mark of 7'-0.25” on his way to winning the event in his first action of the season.
Southeast finished the weekend with a pair of wins in the jumping events with Blake Carter taking the crown in the long jump on Friday evening with a mark of 24'-3.75”.
Carter was followed by Blake Smith in second place with a jump of 23'-25”, a season-high in the event.
On the women's side sophomore Kim Moye finished seventh in the long jump at 17'-2” on Friday evening. Fellow sophomore Jessica Brown finished in eighth with a mark 17'-0.5”.
Brown finished third in the high jump on Saturday afternoon with a mark of 5'-4.25”.
In the running events Charles Johnson set a career-best in the 3000m run with a time of 9:28.83. Shane Brown set a career-best in the 800m run with a time if 2:06.47.
On the women's side Jerika Lewis finished sixth in 200m dash with a time of 25.42.
The Redhawks return to action next week at the Wisconsin Invite in Madison, Wisc.
