CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri junior outfielder
Simone Patterson was named the Adidas Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week Monday.
A native of Topeka, Kan., Patterson hit .714 (10-for-14), with six runs scored, two triples, four RBI and 14 total bases in five games last week. Patterson also boasted a 1.000 slugging percentage and .733 on-base percentage, while recording multiple-hits on three occasions.
Patterson began the week by going 4-for-4 with two triples, two runs scored and two RBI in Southeast's doubleheader sweep of Middle Tennessee (Apr. 11). She then hit .600 (6-for-10) to lead the Redhawks to a series sweep at Austin Peay (Apr. 14-15).
Patterson, who is now on a five-game hitting streak, boosted her batting average to .383 this season. She is the first Redhawk to win OVC Player of the Week honors since
Renee Kertz accomplished the feat on Feb. 15, 2010.
