Redhawks Resume OVC Action with Two Matches This Weekend

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri (3-6, 0-1) resumes Ohio Valley Conference action with two matches this weekend. The Redhawks visit Austin Peay (4-10, 1-0) Saturday and play host to Murray State (5-7, 1-0) Sunday.

Southeast was initially scheduled to play Austin Peay at home, but the match was moved to Clarksville due to a threat of inclement weather.

The Redhawks have won two of their last three contests and head to Clarksville looking to bounce back from a 6-1 loss in their conference-opener at UT Martin (Mar. 18). Elizabeth Nyenwe leads Southeast with a 10-6 record in singles play this season and has posted wins in each of her last four matches. Melissa Martin (9-5) and Heather Robinson (6-3) also have winning records in singles competition.

APSU, winners in four of its last six matches, is led by Vanja Tomic. Tomic, this week's OVC Co-Female Athlete of the Week, has won 12-straight singles matches at the No. 1 spot.

Meanwhile, Murray State heads to Cape Girardeau for a Noon, CT, matchup Sunday.

The Racers have dropped four of their last five, but enter the weekend fresh off a 7-0 win over SIU Edwardsville (Mar. 18).

Southeast holds a slight 11-10 advantage in its series against Austin Peay. The Redhawks, however, trail their series against Murray State, 19-1.
