MARTIN, Tenn. - Southeast Missouri (3-6, 0-1) saw its two-match winning streak come to an end when it dropped its Ohio Valley Conference opener to UT Martin (3-8, 2-0), 6-1, Sunday afternoon at Varsity Courts.

Southeast scored its only point of the day when Elizabeth Nyenwe defeated Johanie Van Zyl, 6-3, 7-6, in No. 2 singles. Nyenwe has won four-straight singles matches for the Redhawks.

Jessica Courtnell and Heather Robinson lost close matches in singles competition. Courtnell dropped a three-set thriller to Anna Winkelmann, 7-6, 4-7, 5-7, at No. 3 while Robinson fell to Anna Marie Herbold, 6-3, 6-4, at the No. 5 spot.

Southeast also suffered one-point losses in both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.

The Redhawks return home to host Austin Peay on Mar. 24. Match time is set for 2 p.m., CT, at the Redhawks Tennis Complex.
