Homecourt Advantage
Southeast is undefeated (4-0) in Ohio Valley Conference play at home this season. The Redhawks have won four-straight games at the Show Me Center, where they are 8-2 on the year.
Redhawks in Second
The Redhawks enter Thursday's matchup at second-place in the Ohio Valley Conference standings behind undefeated and No. 9/11 Murray State (20-0, 8-0). Southeast went 5-1 in its first six conference games this season, posting its best league start since 1999-2000 (9-1). The Redhawks, however, are coming off a 77-62 loss at Tennessee Tech on Jan. 21.
Niemczyk Misses First Game
Junior guard
Nick Niemczyk, who is Southeast's fourth-leading scorer with 9.1 points per game, did not play at Tennessee Tech (Jan. 21). Niemczyk was sidelined due to a concussion he sustained during the team's practice on Jan. 18. It marked the first game he missed this season and his status is day-to-day.
Southeast Looks to Cool Off Austin Peay
Preseason Ohio Valley Conference favorite Austin Peay comes to Cape Girardeau on a five-game winning streak, currently the league's second-longest. The Governors own a 31-15 advantage in the all-time series against Southeast. The Redhawks have lost each of their last seven meetings with APSU.
Smith Aims to Join 1,000-Point Club
Junior
Marland Smith needs 61 more points to reach 1,000 in his Southeast career. Smith, who ranks as the Redhawks second-leading scorer with 12.1 points per game this season, has a total of 939 since joining the program in 2009-10. Derek Winans was the last Redhawk to score over 1,000 points in a career when he had 1,505 from 2001-05.
Sharp-Shooting Redhawks
Southeast shot 50 percent or better from the field in each of its first six Ohio Valley Conference games this season.The Redhawks made a combined 54.1 percent (164-of-303) of their attempts over that span. That stretch ended when Southeast made 48.2 percent (27-of-56) of its shots at Tennessee Tech (Jan. 21). The Redhawks lead the OVC and rank seventh in the nation with a .497 field goal percentage this year.
