Southland Stretch
The Redhawks will play back-to-back opponents from the Southland Conference over a three-day span. Southeast will host Southeastern Louisiana Dec. 3, before heading to Central Arkansas on Dec. 5.
Against the Southland Conference
Southeast has faced four schools from the Southland Conference during its basketball history. The Redhawks are 9-4 all-time against that conference, holding a 5-3 record vs. Central Arkansas, a 0-1 record vs. Nicholls State, a 2-0 mark vs. Southeastern Louisiana and a 2-0 record against Texas-Arlington.
We Meet Again
Southeast Missouri and Southeastern Louisiana meet for the first time since 1954-55 Saturday. The Redhawks are 2-0 all-time against the Lions, with both matchups previously played in Cape Girardeau. Southeast beat Southeastern Louisiana, 84-49, in 1953-54 and, 63-52, in 1954-55.
November is Over
The Redhawks finished their first month of the 2011-12 season with a 3-4 mark, its best November record under head coach
Dickey Nutt. Prior to this year, Southeast went 2-5 in 2009-10 and 0-6 in 2010-11 during the month of November.
There's No Place Like Home
Southeast is a perfect 3-0 at the Show Me Center this season. The Redhawks and Eastern Illinois currently have the most home victories in the Ohio Valley Conference this year. With a victory against Southeastern Louisiana Saturday, Southeast will have a four-game home winning streak for the first time since 2007-08.
20-Point Men
Southeast has had three 20-point scorers in seven games this season.
Nick Niemczyk's 22 points vs. Miami (Ohio) (Nov. 26) are the most scored by any Redhawk in a game this year.
Leon Powell also scored 21 points vs. Harris-Stowe (Nov. 14), while
Tyler Stone poured in 20 at Oregon (Nov. 20).
Three-Point Threat
Marland Smith has made a three-pointer in 14-consecutive games dating back to the Morehead State matchup on Feb. 12, 2011. Smith stands tied for second on the team with eight three-pointers this year. He presently ranks eighth all-time in career three-point field goals made (133) and fifth in three-point field goals attempted (416) at Southeast.
Field Goal Oriented
Leon Powell leads the nation and the Ohio Valley Conference with a .775 (31-of-40) field goal percentage. As a team, Southeast ranked 17th nationally out of 338 teams in field goal percentage (.500), according to the NCAA's first batch of national statistics released on Nov. 28.
