Funeral services for former Southeast Missouri State University assistant basketball coach Randy Curl, 53, will be held on Friday, Jan. 15, at Cornerstone Family Church in Des Moines, Iowa.

Curl, who was an assistant at Southeast from 1987-1997, passed away on Monday, Jan. 11, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. He was born in Portland, Ark. on September 5, 1956 and was united in marriage to Jane Drown on May 22, 1992 in Cape Girardeau. She survives.

A standout collegiate player at Southern Indiana, Curl played professionally in Europe, before becoming an assistant coach at Southern Indiana and later Southeast Missouri. He was an assistant coach at West Des Moines Valley High School at the time of his death.

Curl was an assistant coach on the 1988-89 Southeast basketball team that was inducted into the Southeast Athletic Hall of Fame on Dec. 11.
