Samora Goodson Prepares for Arena Bowl XXII

July 25, 2008

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - Former Southeast Missouri State wide receiver Samora Goodson is expected to be on the San Jose SaberCats active roster for Sunday's ArenaBowl XXII in New Orleans.

Goodson catches a career-long 53-yard TD vs. Tennessee Tech on Nov. 18, 2006.

The SaberCats are the defending ArenaBowl champions and will go for two straight against the Philadelphia Soul on Sunday in New Orleans. The game will be televised live on ABC.

"We'll look at playing (rookie receiver) Samora Goodson a little more this week," said San Jose coach Darren Abert.

Goodson spent the entire season on the `Cats practice squad before being called up the active roster two weeks ago. He got his first taste of the AFL, mostly on special teams, in the American Conference Championship game, but has yet to make a catch in live action.

Goodson played for the Redhawks in 2005 and 2006, starting all 22 games. He had 37 catches for 439 yards and four touchdowns during his Southeast career.
