Miles Smith Advances to NCAA Finals in 400-Meters

Fayetteville, Ark. - Leading from the gun to the finish line, Southeast Missouri State senior Miles Smith (River View Gardens High School, St. Louis, Mo.) won his heat and advanced to the finals of the 400-meters at the NCAA Indoor Championships at the University of Arkansas.

Smith tied for the third fastest time in Friday's prelims with a time of 46.62. Andretti Bain of Oral Roberts had the fastest time at 46.02 while Jordan Boase of Washington timed 46.51 and Smith and Calvin Smith of Florida timed 46.62.

The four fastest times will run in the fast section of the timed finals at 6:55 p.m. on Saturday. The finals can be seen on the internet at www.Ladybacks.com.

The four runners in the second section on Saturday include Lukas Hulett of Nebraska, Joel Phillip of Arixona State, Bobby McCoy of Arizona and Jimmie Gordon of Arizona State.

Miles Smith, a two-time All-American and a Gold Medalist at the 2005 World Championships, finished seventh in the 2006 NCAA Indoor championships.
