Azusa, Calif. - Miles Smith of Southeast Missouri State University, won the 400-meters at the USA Track & Field Mid Summer Classic in Azusa, Calif. Smith timed 45.60 in his final competition prior to the World Championships in Helsinki, Finland.

A member of the United States 4 X 400-meter relay team at the World Championships, Smith cruised to victory in the tune-up meet at Azusa Pacific University. James Davis, a former world championship relay team member, was second in 46.17.

Smith, who will be a junior at Southeast this fall, will continue to train at Southeast prior to departure for the World Championships, August 6-14 in Helsinki.
