Senior offensive lineman Dan Bieg of Southeast Missouri State University has been named as one of 36 members of the Seventh Annual Division I-AA Athletics Directors Association Academic All-Star team.
The winners were chosen from 86 nominees and were announced at the Division I-AA football championship in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
"The young men who earned this award are outstanding representatives of the caliber of students and the caliber of athletes found in Division I-AA football," said Steve McCarty, chair of the Division I-AA ADA Academic All-Star Team Selection Committee and
athletics director at Stephen F. Austin State.
Bieg has a 3.407 cumulative grade point average while majoring in Sports Management. He was a first-team all-OVC selection at offensive guard and was a CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 selection.
Bieg graded out at 96% on pass blocking and 89% on run blocking with 26 knock downs. He hopes to play professional football and then attend graduate school.
A special Review Committee of Division I-AA athletics directors was responsible for selecting the all-star team. Don Kaverman, Southeast Director of Athletics, was one of the committee members.
