CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - (Wednesday, November 10, 2004) Southeast Missouri State Baseball Head Coach Mark Hogan announced the signing of six prep players on the first day of the NCAA early signing period this afternoon. All six players are currently high school seniors and will be part of the 2005-06 baseball roster.
"I feel like we signed a great group of freshmen for next season," commented Coach Hogan. "It could potentially be one of the best freshmen classes that I have signed."
Three pitchers and three position players make up the group of signees. Grant Allbrook is a right-handed pitcher from Birmingham, Alabama where he attends Oak Mountain High School. Dale Dickerson is another righty, but hails from Calhoun, Louisiana and attends West Ouachita High School. Andrew Beatty is a southpaw from Aurora, Illinois and attends West Aurora High School.
The position players include Batesville, Mississippi product Walt Love (South Panola High School), a right-handed batter and thrower who will play in the middle infield, but could potentially see some action at pitcher. Dean Anna (Mokena, Illinois) is another middle-infielder who attends Lincoln Way East High School; he bats left-handed and throws right-handed. Aaron Rave completes the day one signees. Rave is a natural left-hander from Lubbock, Texas where he is an outfielder for Lubbock High School.
"I see all these guys making an immediate impact to our team as soon as they get on campus," said Hogan. "These guys are that good and the coaching staff can't wait to start coaching them."
Coach Hogan is still not done signing and recruiting players for the 2005-06 season as the early signing period started today and ends Wednesday, November 17th.
"I'm expecting more signees in the next couple of days," said Hogan. "So far this is a great start to building the 2005-06 roster."
