Corey Kinsey Dismissed From Southeast Football Team

Sept. 16, 2003

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State University football coach Tim Billings has announced that he has dismissed junior running back Corey Kinsey from the football team.

"The dismissal was because of violations of team rules," Billings said. "There was no big thing, it was just a lot of little things that started to pile up. I decided that Kinsey's dismissal was in the best interest of the team.

"Corey worked hard in the classroom this summer to become eligible and I hope he will continue his education this semester. He will be on scholarship for the fall semester and if he does his academic work, I will help him transfer if that is what he wants to do. I just hope that he continues his education either here or somewhere else."

Kinsey, a preseason all-OVC choice, rushed for 1,067 yards and three touchdowns last season. This season, Kinsey has carried the ball 57 times for 159 yards.

Junior college transfer David Taufoou will move into Kinsey's starting position in the Southeast backfield. He will be backed up by redshirt freshman Bobby Dorsainvil and true freshman Elton Peterson.

Taufoou has 15 carries for 79 yards, an average of 5.3 yards per carry.

Southeast Missouri (0-3) hosts Southwest Missouri State (1-1) Saturday at Houck Stadium. The kickoff will be at 6 p.m.
