Cape Girardeau, Mo. -
Tight end Ray Goodson of Southeast Missouri State University has been named second-team All-America by College Sports Report.com.
The junior from Jackson was Southeast's leading receiver with 66 catches for 623 yards and three touchdowns.
"Ray is very deserving of the All-America award," said Southeast head coach Tim Billings. "He was our go to guy this season and really made some big plays for us. He has all the attributes of a great tight end and I think he will be one of the best in the nation next season. It is great to have a go to guy like Ray."
Goodson was first-team all-Ohio Valley Conference and is thrilled to add All-America honors.
"It is unbelievable to make an All-America team," Goodson said. "It is a great honor. Wow! I just hope it carries over to next season and inspires me to work even harder to get ready for next season.
"I think my strength is blocking, but I was happy to be a bigger part of the offense this season."
Goodson is the third Southeast player to earn All-America plaudits this season. Center Eugene Amano was a first-team All-America selection by the American Football Coaches Association and defensive back Dimitri Patterson was a second-team All-America pick by The Sports Network.
