CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Joey Haines, head men's and women's track and cross country coach at Southeast Missouri State since 1982, will be inducted into the Missouri Track and Cross Country Coaches Association Hall of Fame on Friday in Columbia.
The induction ceremony and luncheon will begin at 12-noon Friday at the Holiday Inn Select in Columbia.
Haines will join former Southeast track coach and athletic director Marvin Rosengarten as Southeast's only selections in the Hall of Fame. Rosengarten was inducted in 1984.
Haines long list of accomplishments at Southeast includes coaching 18 NCAA Division II final four teams, one NCAA II National Indoor Track championship, one NCAA II National Cross Country championship, four NCAA II runner-up teams, six NCAA II third place teams, six NCAA II fourth place teams, 145 NCAA II All-Americans, 23 NCAA II Individual National Champions, three NCAA Division I All-Americans and one NCAA Division I individual national champion.
Named NCAA Division II national Coach of the Year in 1987 and NCAA Division I Regional Coach of the Year in 1998, Haines was named the MIAA Coach of the Year six times and has been named Ohio Valley Conference Coach of the Year 11 times. He has been honored by the Missouri Track and Cross Country Coaches Association as state Coach of the Year seven times.
Haines served as sprint coach at the U.S. Olympic Festival in 1994 and was president of the NCAA Division II National Track and Field Coaches Association during the 1990-91 school year.
