NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Kenton Evans passed for 297 yards and four
touchdowns and ran for a fifth as Tennessee State beat Southeast Missouri State
51-33 Saturday.
Tennessee State (3-8, 2-5 Ohio Valley Conference) dominated on offense,
racking up 531 total yards to 358 for Southeast Missouri (3-8, 1-6).
The Indians last led in the second quarter when Bobby Brune hit Corey Chester with a 5-yard TD pass at 14-10. Evans then threw his second TD pass, a
33-yarder to Ande Durojaiye as the Tigers took the lead and never trailed
again.
Evans also tossed TD passes of 9, 13, 11 yards and scored on a 7-yard run.
He was 21-of-39 for 297 yards.
The Indians got within 30-25 on a 32-yard field goal by Jason Witczak in the
fourth quarter in which they scored 19 points. But Evans scored two of his TDs
in the final 10 minutes as the Tigers sealed the victory.
