Chris Bogantes

Chris Bogantes is in his first season as an assistant coach with the Southeast Missouri gymnastics program. Bogantes coaches bars and is responsible for developing the team’s training program in addition to recruiting, coordinating team travel, setting the competition schedule, assisting with spotting on floor and other day-to-day operations of the program.
 
Bogantes joined the Redhawks after previously working on the staffs at Ball State, Texas Woman's and LSU.
 
"I am excited to add Chris to our staff as he will be an excellent addition to fulfilling areas of need for our program," head coach Kristi Ewasko said upon his hiring. "His personality and desire to be a successful coach will only add fuel to the fire for what we are planning to accomplish with Southeast Gymnastics."
 
Bogantes became the first full-time assistant gymnastics coach in Ball State history, where he coached during the 2012-13 season. He was also an assistant coach for Texas Woman's for the 2010-11 season, coaching the vault while assisting on bars and floor. He earned his master's degree in kinesiology from Texas Woman's in 2014.
  
From 2008-10, Bogantes was the team manager and club team head coach at LSU, where he earned his bachelor's degree in history in 2009. He was also a member of the LSU cheer squad from 2007-08, which included a fourth place finish nationally. Additionally, he served as a stunt and tumbling coach for varsity cheerleaders at LSU and Alabama.
 
In addition to coaching at the collegiate level, Bogantes owns extensive experience in club gymnastics. He coached at Legacy Elite Gymnastics in Illinois from 2011-12, handling vault and bars for Level 8-10 gymnasts while assisting the elite gymnasts on bars, vault and floor.
 
A native of Covington, La., Bogantes was an assistant coach at Elite Gymnastics in Baton Rouge, La., from 2006-08. He has worked with three USA National Team members, including a 2012 USA Olympic Team alternate and 2012 Pan Am Games gold medalist. He has also worked at various club and college camps, including LSU, Michigan and Auburn.
