Leah Killen

Leah Killen is in her second year as Southeast Missouri’s women’s tennis coach.

Director of Athletics Mark Alnutt introduced Killen as the eighth head coach in the program’s history on Sept. 5, 2013.

In her first year at the helm, Killen guided Southeast to a 9-13 overall record. The Redhawks nine victories marked the most in a season since 2006-07. In addition, Southeast saw a +5 increase in the win column after going 4-11 in 2012-13.

Under Killen’s direction, Southeast won a season-long five-straight matches from Mar. 9-22 during her first year.

Killen previously worked as an assistant coach for both the men’s and women’s tennis programs at the University of Dayton in 2012-13.

Prior to Dayton, Killen coached both nationally and sectionally ranked juniors for eight years at the Weymouth Club in Weymouth, Mass. and also at the Sportsmen’s Tennis Club in Dorchester. During her time at Weymouth, she led a USTA Junior Team to the National Championship. In 2008, Killen coached a Varsity girl’s tennis team at Fontbonne Academy in Milton, Mass., where she improved its record from 1-18 to 9-10.

On the collegiate level, Killen coached at Wellesley College, a Division III top-20 team during the 2011 and 2012 seasons.

Killen earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Texas A&M where she was also a member of the tennis team for four years.
