Phillip Russell started the week by scoring 37 points in a 99-98 win over Little Rock (Feb. 2) to tie SEMO's NCAA Division I single-game scoring record for the second time this year. Russell made 9-of-16 field goals, made four 3-pointers and made 15-of-18 free throws to go along with a career-high 10 assists against the Trojans. Two days later, he scored 29 points, including 22 in the second half at Tennessee Tech (Feb. 4). Russell had eight assists, buried four 3-pointers and made 9-of-10 field goals. In addition, he made three free throws to tie the game with five seconds left against the Golden Eagles. 

Russell moved to first in the OVC in scoring with 19.2 points per game. He also leads the league with 5.3 assists per contest. Russell is one of only six players in the nation to score 37 points in two games this season.
