Shea DeGraaf was named the 2022 Ohio Valley Conference Co-Male Field Athlete of the Year and Male Athlete of the Championship as the SEMO men captured the 2022 OVC Indoor Track & Field Championship Feb. 24. DeGraaf, a junior from Knoxville, Tennessee, scored in four events at the Championship. He captured the 2022 OVC Heptathlon Championship with an OVC Indoor Championship record of 5,040 points. His total beat the previous record of 5,012 set by Eastern Kentucky's Yoshua Reed in 2018. DeGraaf also captured a pair of Silvers in high jump (6-9.75, 2.08m) and pole vault (15-4.25, 4.68m). He also scored in the 60-meter hurdles (8.61, seventh) and competed in the long jump (22-1.75, 6.75) at the Championship. DeGraaf previously set a new SEMO program heptathlon record of 5,334 points at the 2022 Hoosier Hills Invite on Feb. 11.Â
