Robert Beltran made three appearances out of the pen this week for SEMO. He worked three and two-thirds scoreless in the midweek against Southern Illinois, tying a season-high six strikeouts. He was in line for the win until SIU tied the game in the ninth, well after he had exited. He finished Friday’s opener against TTU, working four complete innings. He entered after TTU scored five runs on seven consecutive hits to open the sixth inning. He used a fielder’s choice and a double play to end the inning. Beltran pitched one and a third innings in the finale, allowing only one hit while striking out two.
