Senior cornerback Tim Hamm-Bey was named the Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 5. A native of St. Louis, Mo., Hamm-Bey is Southeast's first OVC Defensive Player of the Week since Nov. 13, 2011. Hamm-Bey registered six tackles, blocked a field goal and had five pass breakups in the Redhawks 28-21 victory over No. 20 Tennessee State. He led a disruptive secondary that accounted for a season-high 12 pass breakups. Hamm-Bey ranks third in the nation in blocked kicks (2) and ninth in passes defended (10, 1.7 per game average) this year.
