Brian Boerboom Headshot 2012

Brian Boerboom

Last updated July 19, 2013

Brian Boerboom enters his eighth year as the offensive line coach at Southeast Missouri.

Boerboom’s offensive line has paved the way for the Ohio Valley Conference’s top rushing offense each of the last three seasons. The Redhawks averaged 262.4 rushing yards per game and ranked eighth in the nation in 2012.

In 2010, four offensive linemen earned First-Team All-OVC accolades under Boerboom. As a result, Southeast became only the second team in OVC history and first since 1956 to have four first-team offensive line selections.

Additionally, Boerboom coached two All-Americans (Frank Knights, Sean Middleton) and the Football Championship Subdivision Rimington Award-Winner (Middleton) during the Redhawks OVC Championship season. Southeast also led the nation in fewest sacks allowed, giving up just six in 12 games.

Originally from Colorado Springs, Colo., Boerboom joined the Southeast program from Great Bridge High School in Chesapeake, Va., where he was head coach since 2003. His teams led the district in passing yards every one of his years as a head coach.

He gained other experience as an assistant coach at Greenville College, Colorado College and several high schools in Colorado.

Boerboom has been an instructor at a number of summer camps, including N.C. State, University of Virginia, University of Nebraska, Illinois, Colorado College and F.C.A. football camp in Cuba, Mo.

Boerboom played college football at Nebraska, where he was a three-year letterman and two-year starter at offensive tackle. He was an All-Big Eight selection in 1991 and played in both the Fiesta Bowl and Orange Bowl under Tom Osborne.

In 1992, Boerboom became a member of the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad with whom he practiced, scrimmaged and played in preseason games. He also played for the Connecticut Coyotes of the Arena Football League in 1995.

Boerboom earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Nebraska in 1992 and master’s degree in physical education from Trinity College in 2002.

He and his wife, Stacy, are raising six children, Zach, Jake, Sarah, Jared, Mary and Nathan.
