Cross Country Hits the Road for Nike XC Town Twilight

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO.— The Southeast Missouri men's and women's cross-country teams compete in the Nike XC Town Twilight in Terre Haute, Ind. on Friday, October 2nd.
The women's 6k fires off at 5 p.m. ET followed by the men's 8k at 5:45 p.m. ET.
Last Time Out
This is the third meet of the season for the squads after SEMO hosted the OVC Conference Preview two weeks ago. In the women's race, the Redhawks finished in first with a mark of 25 points in the 6k race. Murray State took second, with OVC rival Southern Indiana taking third. The men's team finished second collecting 57 points. Southern Illinois University took first place with 34 points, and Murray State came in third.
Keeping the Pace
Last outing, SEMO secured a first-place finish for the women's team. Nova Ojutkangas was the winner of the women's race in a time of 21:45.2. Scorers for the women's race include Ojutkangas, Lauren Eftink (22:53.3), Jocelyn Haynes (22:53.4), Brooklyn Bender (23:19.0), and Claire Horstmann (23:22.6).
In the men's race, James House led the team with a sixth-place finish in 26:00.1. Other SEMO men's scorers include Drew Upperman (26:07.6), Trey Mygatt (26:33.3), Carson Koerber (26:42.2), and Lincoln Crews (26:45.3).
Meet Information
The meet will be an 8k race for the men and a 6k race for the women at the Vern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in terre Haute, Ind. There will be 20 schools competing in the meet, with OVC members including SEMO, SIUE, and Southern Indiana. Other teams include Baylor (women's team only), Indiana State, Texas Tech, and UC San Diego.Â
Looking Ahead
The Redhawks will hit the road again Friday, October 16th, traveling to Peoria, Ill. to compete in the Bradley Pink Classic. This race will also be an 8k for the men and a 6k for the women, with kickoff beginning at noon.
