OVC Conference Preview
CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO.— The Southeast Missouri men's and women's cross-country teams continue its 2026 campaign at home, competing in the OVC Conference Preview Friday.
The women's 6k fires off at 6 p.m. followed by the men's 8k at 6:35p.m.
Last Time Out
This is the second meet of the season for the squads after SEMO hosted the Redhawk Invitational two weeks ago. The men's team finished first collecting 20 points. Ohio Valley Conference rival SIUE took second with 59 points, and Lindenwood came in third. In the women's race, the Redhawks also finished in first with a mark of 17 points in the 3k race. SIUE and Lindenwood took second and third, respectively. University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy rounded out the field in fourth place.
Fast Start
Last outing, SEMO secured a first-place finish for both teams. Nova Ojutkangas was the winner of the women's race in a time of 10:18.3. Scorers for the women's race include Ojutkangas, Jocelyn Haynes (10:53.2), Lauren Eftink (10:58.4), Daphne Bishop (11:02.8), and Claire Horstmann (11:11.7).
In the men's race, Myles Thornburg led the team with a second-place finish in 12:41.3. Other SEMO men's scorers include Cade McCadams (12:50.1), Trey Mygatt (12:51.7), Carson Koerber (12:55.0), and Evan Fuller (12:58.0).
Meet Information
The meet will be an 8k race for the men and a 6k race for the women at the Osage Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo. This course will also serve as the OVC Championships course. There will be four schools competing. OVC competitors include SEMO and Southern Indiana. Murray State and Southern Illinois will also be competing in both races.
Looking Ahead
The Redhawks will hit the road again Friday, October 2nd, traveling to Terre Haute, Ind. to compete in the Nike XC Town Twilight. This race will also be a 8k for the men and a 6k for the women.
