Volleyball Hires Jessie Gartman as Assistant Coach

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri hired Jessie Gartman as an assistant volleyball coach Monday.
Gartman comes to SEMO from Cape Girardeau's Pursuit Volleyball Club, where she worked as a head coach and board member. In that role, she coached multiple national level teams and served as an administrator of the high school program.
Coaching duties included practice planning, drill and game research, evaluation of film and team/player statistics, player recruitment, strength and mobility training and private lesson training. On the administrative side, Gartman organized summer high school clinics/camps, built high school teams' budgets and schedules, managed Pursuit's website, monitored social media and bolstered fundraising and donor relations.
"I am thrilled to add someone with Jessie's passion for the game and local connections to our coaching staff," said SEMO Head Coach Julie Yankus. "Jessie has helped drive the popularity of volleyball in the area through all her hard work at Pursuit Volleyball Club. She is highly respected within the club community, and I know here experience and knowledge will translate to the college level seamlessly. Jessie's positive mindset, driven personality and motivated coaching style will be an excellent addition to our staff."
Prior to Pursuit Volleyball Club, Gartman worked as a national volleyball scout for Cape Girardeau's National Scouting Report from 2024-26.
She played volleyball at Columbia College as a freshman in 2018 and transferred to SEMO, where she graduated in 2022.
