CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Matt Pluff and
Jon'David White were cited by the OVC in the weekly track awards, the league announced Thursday.
Pluff earned the OVC Male Field Athlete of the week, White was tabbed with OVC Male Freshman of the Week.
Pluff, a senior from Smithton, Illinois, won the high jump event at the Memphis Tiger Invitational with a new personal best clearance of 7-0.25. With this new personal best he tops the OVC chart in the event and moved to seventh in the Midwest region. He also finished third in the long jump with a distance of 22-11.75.
White, a freshman from St. Louis, Missouri, won the 110m hurdles at the Jim Green Invite. After the prelims of the 110m hurdles he qualified fourth for the finals with a time of 14.39. In the finals he ran a 14.16 to win the event by 0.02. He also finished 11
th in the 400m hurdles with a new personal best time of 56.68.
Some of the athletes will wrap up the regular season at the Billy Hayes Invite, in Bloomington, Indiana while another group competes at the Sycamore Open hosted by Indiana State.
