STARKVILLE, Miss. - The Southeast Missouri Track and Field teams travel to two different meets, both starting Thursday.
The distance runners will be traveling to St. Louis for the Wash U Distance Carnival. On Thursday, the races start at 7:30 p.m. On Friday, it resumes at 11 a.m.
The other athletes will be traveling to the Bulldog Relays hosted by Mississippi State. The lone event Thursday is the men's and women's hammer throw at noon. The meet continues Friday with the field events at 11 a.m. followed by the running events starting at 4 p.m. The meet will conclude on Friday with field events starting at 11 a.m. again and the running events following at 1 p.m.
Last Time Out
The throwers travelled to the Rhodes Invitational to participate in the javelin and the hammer throw events.
Zavier Winton took home the men's hammer throw title with a 181' 10" event-winning throw.
Mark Goldman also finished on the podium with a third-place finish and a 166' 2" mark and
Quinton Maxwell also threw and finished sixth with a 142' 7".
In the women's hammer, the Redhawks locked down places fifth through eighth with
Alyssa Repke leading the team in fifth place with a 163' 0" mark ahead of
Emerson Gross (6
th, 154-4),
Elliana Rhinehart (7
th, 153-3) and
Bailie Hux (8
th, 151-10). The javelin throwers also started their season with
Kennedy Zgaynor leading the way with a fourth-place finish and a 145-5 mark just ahead of teammate
Ava Dumke reaching 144-11.
Avery Graham rounded out the throwers with a seventh-place finish with a throw od 131-6.
Looking Ahead
The squads will host its only home meet of the season, the Joey Haines Invitational. The two-day meet will start on April 3
rd with the hammer throw and continue through April 4 with the other events.
