CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Anna Thomason and
Trenton Braswell were named OVC Field Athletes of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
Thomason secured the Female Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this season, while Braswell won the Male FIeld Athlete of the Week for the first time.
Thomason, a senior from Cape Girardeau, was cited for the award after breaking two school records at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational. She broke the school record in the pentathlon for the second time this season. Her total of 3982 points eclipsed her personal best mark of 3901 which she set in the first meet of the season. Her current mark currently sits 24
th in the country and first in the OVC. She also set a school record in the 60m hurdles with a new mark of 8.34 seconds. Her hurdles time also sits atop the OVC.
Braswell, a graduate student from Marble Hill, earned the award after finishing third in the weight throw, while also setting a new personal best. At the PNC Lenny Lyles Invite, Braswell set a new personal best mark in the weight throw with a mark of 68-1.75. He topped his original PR of 67-7.5 which was set at the Redhawks Invite. His distance currently sits No. 39 in the event in the country and second in the OVC. This is Braswell's first OVC weekly award of the season.
