LOUISVILLE, Ky. – For the first time in program history the men's and women's track and field teams swept the team titles at the OVC Indoor Championships.
It is the women's fourth team title in a row and 11th title overall. For the men's squad it is its first title since 2022 and fifth overall.
In the second portion of the heptathlon, Luis Schadlich earned a runner-up finish in the heptathlon, totaling 4,886 points and taking third in the 1,000m on the final day. Kannon Harlow placed fourth in the heptathlon with 4,782 points, highlighted by a second-place finish in the pole vault on day two.
In the pentathlon, Anna Thomason captured the conference title with 3,831 points, winning the 60m hurdles (8.62), long jump (18' 9.5"), and 800m (2:26.73) to secure the victory.
SEMO added strong performances in the field events. In the men's high jump, Matt Pluff cleared 6-7 to finish fifth, while John Hartmann placed eighth at 6' 3".
The Redhawks had an impressive showing in the men's shot put, with Marshall Swadley finishing second at 53' 0.25" and Trenton Braswell taking third at 52' 10.75". Mark Goldman followed in fourth with a throw of 51' 0.25", and Quinton Maxwell placed sixth at 50-5.
On the women's side, Andreese Ortiz led the way in the shot put with a third-place mark of 43-8.75, while Baylee Beard finished sixth at 41" 1" and Alyssa Repke placed eighth at 40-9.
In the horizontal jumps, Alayna Lester secured eighth in the women's triple jump with a mark of 38-2.25, and Cole Bruenderman finished eighth in the men's triple jump at 46-4.
Clara Billing delivered a title performance in the women's pole vault, clearing 13' 3" to claim first place.
On the track, Evan Fuller earned a runner-up finish in the men's mile, crossing in 4:11.82, while Cole Reinders placed fifth in 4:12.83. Madelyn Gray claimed the women's mile title with a personal-best time of 4:53.64.
In the 60m hurdles finals, Marcus Gordon placed fourth in 8.17, followed by JD White in fifth at 8.26. The women's 60m hurdles proved dominant for SEMO, as Anna Thomason won in 8.50, Clara Billing finished second in 8.58, and Brianna Dixon added a fourth-place finish in 8.78.
In the 400m, Jonas Davis led the men with a third-place finish in 48.31, while Jackson Witvoet took sixth in 49.02 and Kani Smith placed eighth in 49.68. Sydney Burdine captured the women's 400m title, winning in 54.65 seconds.
Jasmine McClelland added an eighth-place finish in the women's 60m with a time of 7.77.
The Redhawks continued to score in the 800m, with Cole Reinders finishing fourth in 1:52.0 and Tyler Anderson sixth in 1:52.37 on the men's side. Ceyda Bayur placed seventh in the women's 800m in 2:26.61.
Jonas Davis added another fourth-place finish in the men's 200m, clocking 21.54.
Garrett Dumke earned fifth in the men's 3,000m with a time of 8:33.25, while Nova Ojutkangas claimed the women's 3,000m title in 9:58.95.
To close out the meet, the men's 4x400m relay team of Witvoet, Anderson, Smith, and Davis placed third with a time of 3:15.72. The women's 4x400m relay squad of Burdine, Lester, Clements, and Thomason capped the competition with a runner-up finish in 3:48.15.
End of the year awards
Head coach Eric Crumpecker took home both OVC Male and Female Coach of the Year awards.
Nova Ojutkangas earned Co-OVC Female track athlete of the year, Marshall Swadley won OVC Male Field Athlete of the Year, and Anna Thomason wrapped up the awards with OVC Female Field Athlete of the Year.
