BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Southeast Missouri guard
Raissa Nsabua was named Ohio Valley Conference 'Co-Newcomer of the Week' this week, the league announced on Tuesday morning.
The graduate student from Ottawa, Ontario, led the Redhawks to a 2-0 week last week with big wins at UT Martin (62-52) and at Little Rock (71-62). Nsabua helped SEMO defeat UT Martin for the first time since 2017 in Martin, Tennessee.
She also was lethal from the field on Saturday afternoon in Little Rock. Nsabua finished the game with 22 points on 10-11 shooting. She narrowly missed her SEMO career-high in points (24) in the contest.
For the week, Raissa scored 28 points (14.0 PPG), hauled in 16 rebounds (8.0 RPG), dished out seven assists (3.5 APG), and recorded a steal (0.5 SPG) in two games. She finished 13-20 from the field (.650) and 2-4 at the free throw line (.500).
Earlier last week, Nsabua eclipsed 200 career assists against UT Martin. She entered the game with 197 career assists and dished out five against the Skyhawks to surpass 200 assists for her career.
For Raissa, the award marks her first OVC weekly honor in her career and she becomes the second Redhawk to win 'Newcomer of the Week' in 2025-26 (
Kearra Jones). Nsabua shares the weekly award with Lindenwood's Aleshia Jones.
Big Week
The Redhawks will finish the 2025-26 regular season at home this week on Thursday against Tennessee State (2/26) and Saturday against Tennessee Tech (2/28). Tip-off is set for 5:15 and 1:30 p.m., respectively.
