Women's Hoops Drops Saturday Contest

SAINT CHARLES, Mo. — Southeast Missouri Women's Basketball (8-17, 4-12 OVC) fell to Lindenwood (20-7, 12-4 OVC), 78-67, at Robert F. Hyland Arena on Saturday, despite slicing through the lane for 38 points in the paint.

First Quarter  
- Lindenwood opened with a 3-pointer by Ellie Brueggemann, assisted by Gracie Kelsey.  
- Mya Skoff added a fast-break 3-pointer, extending the lead.  
- The Redhawks responded with Kearra Jones finishing at the rim off an offensive rebound.  
- Carmen Taylor drilled a 3-pointer for the visiting team, but Lindenwood maintained control.  
- At the end of the first quarter, Lindenwood led 20–9.  

Second Quarter
- Southeast Missouri cut into the lead with Ainaya Williams and Raissa Nsabua scoring consecutive layups in the paint.
- Lindenwood responded with Mya Skoff's layup and free throws from Alyssa Nielsen to maintain its edge.
- Taylor's 3-pointer narrowed the gap, but Brooke Coffey's jumper extended Lindenwood's advantage.
- At halftime, Lindenwood led 39–30.

Third Quarter  
- Taylor hit a 3-pointer at 7:35, reducing the lead to eight points.  
- Lexi McCully connected from beyond the arc at 2:14, cutting the deficit to five.  
- Williams scored a layup with 41 seconds left, bringing the visitor score to 49.  
- Lindenwood held a 57-51 advantage at the end of the third quarter.

Fourth Quarter
- Aleshia Jones of the home team initiated scoring with a jumper, contributing to the team's 21-point quarter.
- The Redhawks matched Lindenwood in points in the paint, with both sides scoring 10 points each.
- Coffey's defensive rebound set up valuable second-chance points for the home team, which tallied 5 offensive rebounds.
- At the final whistle, Lindenwood secured a 78–67 victory over the Redhawks.
