Clara Billing set a new indoor pole vault record as the Southeast Missouri track and field teams wrapped up the Heartland Invitational Saturday afternoon.
Billing won the invitational pole vault event with a new school record mark of 13' 7.25", surpassing her previous best clearence of 13' 6.25" set last season.Â
Other podium finishers for SEMO included three finishers included Cole Reinders, who placed second in the men's 800 meters in 1:51.2, his second runner up of the meet, and Trenton Braswell finished second in the men's shot put with a throw of 54-2. Andreese Ortiz secured third in the women's weight throw at 56-11.5, Anna Thomason placed third in the women's 60-meter hurdles in 8.46 seconds after qualifying second in preliminaries, Jake Cannon cleared 16-6.5 to finish third in the men's pole vault invitational, and Matt Pluff tied for third in the men's high jump at 6-9.5.
Other finishers added depth across the meet. Tyler Anderson finished fourth in the men's 800 meters in 1:52.5, while Luke Busateri placed fourth in the men's triple jump at 46-7.5 and Cole Bruenderman followed in fifth at 46-6.75. Jonas Davis recorded a fifth-place time of 21.63 in the men's 200 meters, and Evan Fuller (sixth, 1:53.6) and Micah Grawer (10th, 1:54.5) contributed additional finishes in the 800 meters. Sydney Burdine placed eighth in the women's 200 meters in 24.48 seconds, Greg Dennis finished eighth in the men's high jump at 6-2, and Andreese Ortiz took 10th in the women's shot put with a mark of 43-2.25. Lauren Eftink ran 17:53.7 to place 10th in the women's 5,000 meters, Fuller clocked 4:15.8 for 12th in the men's mile, and Aarion Jackson finished ninth in the men's triple jump at 43-5. Mark Goldman placed sixth in the men's shot put with a throw of 51-3.5 and previously recorded an 11th-place personal best of 54-9 in the weight throw, Jackson Witvoet posted a personal-best 48.99 in the men's 400 meters, and Garrett Dumke completed the men's 5,000 meters in 14:39.3.
The Redhawks will wrap up its indoor season hosting the second home meet of the season with the Redhawks Open Friday evening.
