Redhawks Continue Road Swing Saturday at Morehead State
Southeast Missouri Women's Basketball (5-9, 1-4 OVC) will play their second-straight road test in OVC play on Saturday, January 10, when they take on Morehead State (8-8, 3-2 OVC). Tip-off is set for Noon, CT. from Johnson Arena/FamilyLeisure.com Court in Morehead, Ky.  
 
Series History
Two of the longest tenured programs in the Ohio Valley Conference, SEMO and Morehead State square off for the 56th time on the basketball court Saturday afternoon. The Redhawks lead the overall series by a 31-24 tally, including a 14-13 record in Morehead, Kentucky, but the Eagles swept the regular season series in 2024-25. The Redhawks' last win in the series came in Morehead with a 70-63 victory (Feb. 29, 2024). 
 
Thursday Night
Southeast Missouri Women's Basketball suffered its second-straight defeat on Thursday night in a 77-46 loss at OVC-leading Southern Indiana in Evansville, Indiana. The Redhawks scored just 19 points in the first 20-minutes and trailed 41-19 at the halftime break. Guard Carmen Taylor led the Redhawks in scoring as she was the only one in double figures with 14 points. Guard Raissa Nsabua and forward Kearra Jones followed behind with seven points each. 
 
Three-Straight
Graduate guard Carmen Taylor continued to lead the Redhawks in scoring on Thursday night, marking the third-straight game in which she's been the team's leading scorer. Taylor, a native of Memphis, Tenn., scored 14 points against Southern Indiana. In the last three games, Taylor has scored 18, 11, and 14 points all coming in OVC play. She has averaged 14.3 PPG over that span. 
 
Career-High Vs. D1
Freshman point guard Noelani 'Princess' Dunn had her longest outing of the season against another Division I opponent last night at Southern Indiana. Dunn played a total of 17:14 which marked her second highest overall total of the season. Dunn dished out an assist and grabbed two rebounds in the contest. She has played 10.4 MPG this season. 
 
Block Party
Center Ainaya Williams was active on the defensive end on Thursday night, tallying two total blocks against one of the best paint teams in the OVC. Williams recorded two more blocks, bringing her season total to 24. Thursday's contest marked her seventh game this season with a multi-block game as she is averaging 1.7 BPG in 2025-26. 
 
Third Highest Total
Guard Madison Ayers tallied her third-highest point total of the season on Thursday night. Ayers, a junior from Annapolis, Mo., scored five points against USI on just four shots (2-4). Ayers also hauled in a pair of rebounds and dished out a pair of assists in 13:44 of gametime. On the season, she is averaging 2.2 PPG over 8.9 minutes per game. 
 
Big Road Test
Saturday's contest marks a massive game for both the Redhawks and Eagles. SEMO (1-4 OVC) sits tied for eighth place in the league with Tennessee State and Eastern Illinois. The Redhawks hold the tiebreaker over EIU, but do not hold the same advantage over TSU. Morehead State (3-2) sits in front of the Redhawks by two games as the Eagles are in a four-way tie with Tennessee Tech, Lindenwood, and UT Martin. 
 
Scoring Leader
Guard Carmen Taylor has taken over the top scoring spot on the Redhawks after her 14-point performance on Thursday night. Taylor is averaging 12.6 PPG and ranks 13th in the OVC in scoring overall. In 419 minutes played, Taylor has made 58 field goals, 31 three pointers, and 30 free throws. She has scored a total of 200 points in 14 games this season. 
 
Up to Seventh
Center Ainaya Williams moved up to seventh place in the Ohio Valley Conference at the charity stripe after going 2-2 last night in Evansville. On the season, Williams is 52-66 at the foul line for a 78.8-percent clip. USI's Ali Saunders leads the league having missed just three free throws all season (44-47) with a 93.6-percent mark. 
 
150 Career Assists
Graduate guard Raissa Nsabua eclipsed the 150-assist mark after dishing out an assist against USI Thursday night. Nsabua now has 151 career total assists and is on pace to surpass her highest total in a season (64) for her career. She has 49 total assists so far this season and is averaging almost four assists per game (3.8). 
 
100 Points
Sophomore forward Kearra Jones reached a SEMO career milestone last night. Jones, a native of Madison, Wis., scored seven points against USI on Thursday night and now has exactly 100 points in a SEMO uniform in just 14 games played. In her second season of DI basketball, Jones is averaging 7.4 PPG for her career and has scored 331 total points. 
 
Top Five
Carmen Taylor moved into the top five of three-point field goals per game in the Ohio Valley Conference last night. In 14 games, Taylor has drained 31 three pointers this season and is averaging 2.2 threes per game. She now ranks fourth in the league as Ellie Brueggemann of Lindenwood continues to lead the conference (2.7 PG).
