CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - The Southeast Missouri Track and Field teams continue their season Fridy hosting the Redhawks Invite in the Student Rec Center.

The meet is scheduled to start at Noon with the field events before the track events start at 3 p.m. The Rec Center will open for spectators at 10 a.m.

First Time Out

The Redhawks had a great showing in their season opener back on December 12th-13th at the John Gartland invite, in Terre Haute, Indiana. There were two indoor school records broken with Anna Thomason breaking the pentathlon record scoring 3901 points to top the field of nine athletes. She won four out of the five events including setting new personal best marks in the 800-meters (2:23.22) along with the shotput (37' 3.25"). She also won the long jump reaching 18' 3.75" and the 60-meter hurdles (8.54).

The other record breaker was Brianna Dixon who broke her own record in the high jump reaching 5-10 to take the title.

The Redhawks also had six other event winners that included Marshall Swadley winning the shot put and the weight throw while also setting new personal bests in both. John Hartmann claimed first place in the high jump after clearing a personal-best height of 6-9.5. Clara Billing earned the pole vault victory with a height of 12-11.75. Kale Clements won the 800 meters in 2:26.4 during her first collegiate meet. Sydney Burdine captured the 400-meter title with a time of 56.09. Madelyn Gray won the mile with a time of 5:04.6.

OVC Athletes of the Week

After the first meet, Marshall Swadley, Anna Thomason and Sydney Burdine were cited as OVC Athletes of the week. Swadley won the Male Field Athlete of the Week after his two-PR meet. Thomason earned the Female Field Athlete of the Week for her score in the pentathlon and Burdine was awarded Female Track Athlete of the week for her event win, which was also a meet record.
