Women's Hoops Battles UT Martin, Falls 67-56 Tuesday

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — Southeast Missouri Women's Basketball (6-12, 2-7 OVC) fell to UT Martin (10-8, 6-3 OVC), 67-56, after a decisive fourth quarter surge by the visitors. 

First Quarter
- The Redhawks established an early presence in the paint with Kearra Jones converting multiple layups.
- The Skyhawks relied on free throws to stay competitive, with Kenley McCarn and Sidni Middleton contributing from the line.
- Madison Ayers hit a crucial 3-pointer to give the home team a narrow edge.
- At the end of the quarter, the Redhawks held a 13–12 lead.

Second Quarter  
- Lexi McCully scored early with a layup, giving the Redhawks a slight lead.  
- UT Martin responded with an 11-point run off turnovers, swinging the momentum.  
- Norah Clark contributed significantly for UT Martin with a string of scoring plays.  
- At the half, the Skyhawks held a 33–20 advantage.

Third Quarter  
- Raissa Nsabua initiated scoring with a layup, followed by a Carmen Taylor three-pointer.  
- Southeast capitalized on turnovers, scoring four fast break points while holding UT Martin scoreless on turnovers.  
- Taylor connected on three 3-pointers, contributing significantly to the home team's offensive push.  
- The quarter ended with the Redhawks trailing slightly, as UT Martin led 43–41.

Fourth Quarter
- UT Martin took control early with a layup from Zy Thompson, pushing the lead to four.
- Grace Billington extended the advantage with a 3-pointer at 8:41, assisted by Sidni Middleton.
- Ainaya Williams contributed for the Redhawks with a layup at 7:18, narrowing the gap to six.
- The Skyhawks' free throw accuracy in the final minute sealed the game, ending with a 67–56 victory.
