BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The Southeast Missouri Track and Field squads had four athletes named to the OVC Athletes to watch list, the league announced Friday.
On the men's side,
Marcus Gordon Jr. was selected on the track and
Marshall Swadley was selected for the field events. The women's selections included
Nova Ojutkangas and
Molly Grohmann.
Gordon Jr is entering his junior season for the Redhawks. Last season at the OVC Indoor Championships he set his personal best time in the 60-meter hurdles to finish in second place. His personal best in the 55-meter dash currently sits at 6.80 seconds.
Swadley is a graduate student on the team, who has already made a splash to start the season. In the first two meets he has set new personal best marks in the weight throw and the shot put. His best mark in the shot put currently sits at 62-2.5 which ranks sixth in the country. His weight throw is now at 55-7.5, sitting 29
th in the nation currently.
Ojutkangas is a redshirt junior for the team but has not competed on the track for SEMO. The two-time OVC Cross Country Champion has made her mark on the trail. She currently has a personal best cross country time of 20:18.2 in the 6k distance and 17:50.2 at the 5k distance.
Grohman is entering her junior season on the team. Last season she collected three-top 10 finishes at the OVC Indoor Championships. She had a second-place finish in the high jump with a height of 5-6. She also placed sixth in the long jump reaching 18-9.25 and ninth in the triple jump with a mark of 37-4.5.
The Redhawks are competing in the Indiana Invitational Friday and Saturday.
