BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Southeast Missouri Track and Field teams travel to the Hoosier State for their next indoor meet, where it will participate in the Hoosier Invitational, hosted by Indiana University.
The meet is a two-day event with the field events starting the meet at 3:30 on Friday. On day one, the track events are slated to get started at 5 p.m.
On Saturday, the Field events start at 9:45 a.m. Ahead of the track events starting at noon.
The Redhawks will be facing high major competition as they are slated to compete against athletes from Indiana University, Ohio State University, Wisconsin University, Ohio University, Alabama University, the University of Cincinnati, and Southern Illinois.
Last Time Out
The Redhawks hosted their first home meet of the season, the Redhawks Invite where SEMO won 11 events throughout the meet. Event winners included
Liberty Blackburn in the high jump,
Marshall Swadley in the shotput,
Trenton Braswell in the weight throw,
Anna Thomason in the 55m dash,
Sydney Burdine in the 400-meters and
Kani Smith in the men's 400-meters.
Kayla Vogelsang and
Cade McCadams both won the 3,000-meters.
All in all SEMO had 31 podium finishes.
OVC Athletes of the Week
In the newest installment of the OVC athletes of the week, SEMO took home four awards. For the second time this season
Marshall Swadley won the male field athlete of the week. Swadley set two personal best marks in the shotput where he won the event along with the weight throw, where he finished second.
Madelyn Gray was cited as the female track athlete of the week after finishing second in the mile while setting a Student Rec Center record of 5:02.8.
Liberty Blackburn, in her second meet for SEMO, earned female field athlete of the week after winning the high jump with a personal best mark of 5-7.
Kale Clements wrapped up the weekly award winners with the female freshman of the week. Clements finished second in the 800-meters, dropping over a second from her first 800-meter time.
National Rankings
The SEMO track team is represented on the individual event national rankings.
Marshall Swadley set a new personal best mark in the shotput reaching 62-2.5, which currently sits at No. 6 in the nation. Swadley's new best in the weight throw also sits at No. 29 in the country. He is also joined on that list by teammate Trenton Brasswell whose personal best throw of 67-7.5 sits No. 23 nationally.
John Hartmann sits No. 35 in the country in the high jump after he reached 6-9.5 in the first meet of the season.
On the women's side
Sydney Burdine is 24
th in the country in the 400 with a season best time of 55:.36,
Brianna Dixon is also on the national list in the high jump, sitting 15
th in the nation with a maximum height of 5-10.
Anna Thomason is the final Redhawk on the national lists as she currently sits sixth in the pentathlon.
