BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Freshman outside hitter
Katy St. John was named the Ohio Valley Conference 'Freshman of the Week', the league announced on Monday afternoon.
St. John, a native of Jackson, Mo., continued her stellar start to her collegiate volleyball career this past weekend at the Indiana Invitational where she was named to the All-Tournament team following the conclusion of the tournament.
The freshman started in all 13 sets over the three-match weekend and recorded back-to-back career high kills in the Friday matches against Western Michigan and Northern Kentucky with 15 kills in in both matches.
She finished the weekend with 37 total kills on 74 total attacks for a .365 hitting-percentage. She committed just 10 attack errors while averaging 2.85 kills-per-set. St. John finished the invitational with 39.5 points over three matches, averaging 3.04 points-per-set.
Through six matches, St. John has recorded double-digit kills in three-of-six matches. She has 57 total kills on the season, on 126 total attacks, and is hitting an impressive .294 at the net.
Defensively St. John has recorded 8.0 total blocks, including two solo and six block assists, which ties her for third on the team with fellow outside hitter
Lucy Arndt.
The award marks the first for St. John in her career and she is the first Redhawk in 2025 to be selected for an Ohio Valley Conference weekly award.

SEMO Volleyball will host the 2025 SEMO Invitational this week beginning on Thursday, September 12, when they take on Iowa. First serve is slated for 6 p.m., CT. inside Houck Field House.
